New Triggers and Steps are now available in Glide

Users can now build more powerful workflows with two new trigger types—Slack Trigger and Manual Trigger—and two new workflow steps: Trigger Workflow and Human-in-the-Loop, including Slack prompts and loop links for human input. With these, you can now trigger workflows from Slack or manual actions inside your app, chain them together, and pause for human input when needed, giving you more control and flexibility when automating work in Glide.

Slack Trigger

This feature kicks off a workflow when a Slack message is posted. It's great for syncing team activity across tools.

Manual Trigger

Let users start workflows manually from actions in your app, like pressing a button or submitting a form. Note: This Trigger can only be used with the Trigger Workflow Step.

Examples:

  • Let users trigger a workflow by pressing a button in a Glide app (e.g., submit a report, initiate a request)

  • Field teams triggering supply or maintenance workflows while on the job

  • Triggering follow-up automations based on in-app activity (e.g., when someone marks a task as complete)

Trigger Workflow

Chain workflows together by triggering one from another, letting you easily chain workflows together and pass data between them. Perfect for building modular logic and reusable automations. Note: This Step will not work with the App Interaction Trigger.

Examples:

  • Chain multiple workflows together for modular logic (e.g., run workflow B after workflow A finishes)

  • Create reusable workflow components for complex apps (e.g., onboarding, approvals)

Human-in-the-Loop

Human-in-the-loop steps let you pause workflows to collect human input, approvals, or decisions. Share loop links with users to gather responses, or prompt them via Slack to choose from preset options. This step is ideal for approvals, compliance checks, and any process that needs human judgment.

  • Make a link for the loop: Generate a special URL that can be shared with a user to collect their response.

  • Wait for a loop link call: Pause the workflow until the user opens the loop link and submits their response.

  • Slack → Ask a user to choose an option: Send a message in Slack that prompts a user to select from predefined choices, which then drives the next step in the workflow.
